Age:  32
Hometown:  Star, Idaho
Occupation:  Stay @ home dad
Area of expertise:  Waterfowl- Ducks/Geese
Favorite Method of Hunting:  Hunting the Snake River in Southern Idaho

Biography:
Chad was born and raised on a farm in Underwood, Iowa. He remembers pushing timbers and walking fence lines with his dad before he could carry a gun.  And when he wasn’t wrestling he was hunting! Chad hunted quail, pheasants, and whitetails growing up and it was in college when his passion for waterfowl began. His best friend introduced him to waterfowl in the fields of Brighton, Colorado and he just could not believe the amount of birds, and the challenge of calling and decoying them in.

Chad wrestled in college, was a 2X Junior All-American and competed in competition overseas. Coaching is also in his blood, an assistant to an Iowa state championship team, and has coached a national team from Iowa.

After leaving Iowa, he moved out to Idaho where he discovered the quantity and quality of the hunting out west and now calls Idaho home.  Chad is 33 years old and resides in Star, Idaho with his daughter Madeline (4); and still coaches wrestling when he can.

His new passion is hunting the many miles of the Snake River for ducks and geese. With his lab Jake by his side he travels to Canada, Colorado, and Montana every year to fuel his passion. Chad has guided goose hunts in Colorado and he hunts deer and elk in the fall and never misses an opportunity to be out in the field. Chad values the time with family and friend’s weather hunting or scouting and is excited to teach his kids about the outdoors.  Chad’s experience, passion and knowledge of Avery’s products are a great addition to Avery’s Pro-Staff.

David Harper

Hometown: Jerome, Idaho
Occupation: Civil Engineering Student for the Bureau of Land Management
Areas of hunting expertise: Waterfowl
Favorite method of hunting: Decoying Mallards in thrashed corn, decoying geese on water.
Credentials: Have been involved with seminars, TV shows, Video, and even Radio programming about waterfowl. Worked in hunting retail for over four years now.

David Harper spent part of his childhood in the central valley of California where his father and grandfather introduced him to hunting deer and wild pigs at the age of five on the hills of the coastal range. He’s been hooked on hunting ever since his first trip out with his family. Shortly after they relocated to Southern Idaho where David still resides today. Every fall and winter offers him and his family and friends the chance to hunt elk, bear, antelope and mule deer with his bow. But it was in this magic valley that he caught the addiction of waterfowling while in high school. The thought of a flock of mallards or even one solo goose hooking and committing to the decoy spread is what gets him up every morning and keeps him longing for the cold days of winter to return.

During the summers David stays busy working for the BLM as an engineering intern and a wildland firefighter, his winters are reserved for classes at Boise State University and chasing waterfowl across the state. With this time during the winter David is able to put his Avery gear to the test nearly six days a week in everything from thrashed corn to wide open rivers and frozen lakes to sagebrush creeks. David brings with him to the staff skills learned from the photography classes and competitive speaking teams that he has been apart of. After working in the world of sporting goods retail for over three years now, David not only knows his Avery products, he knows his Avery customers as well.
